The history of the birth of JKPI is closely related to Konferensi dan Pameran Organisasi Kota Pusaka Eropa-Asia (OWHC Euro-Asia) which was held at Surakarta. Ir. Jero Wacik, as minister of culture and tourism, with 12 mayors from Solo, Sawahlunto, Banda Aceh, Ternate, Pangkal Pinangm Yogyakarta, Ambon, Salatiga, Bogor, North Jakarta, Bengkulu, and Baubau was made a new history about the preservation of the heritage by establishing JKPI.<\/p><p>The establishment of the JKPI contained in the Deklarasi Surakarta at the subject of inheritance (cultural heritage) which was held at joglo in the backyard of mayor of Solo\u2019s home office. The founding fathers of JKPI agreed to declares this organization. At the beginning of its birth, JKPI only consists of 12 cities in all over Indonesia. As time passing by and as well as the official JKPI\u2019s discussion forums on pre-congress, congress, and national working meeting was held; finally region in the district, named kabupaten, were allowed to be a member of JKPI as well as meets the criteria and is committed in the preservation of heritage (tangible and intangible heritage)<\/p><p>JKPI itself is an organization in between the city\u2019s government and or the city\u2019s government or district that has a diversity of natural heritage and or cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), which aims to preserve the natural and cultural heritage together as a capital base to build up to the future. As for the purpose of\u00a0 JKPI is:<\/p><ol><li>Establishing cooperation among cities which have important natural and cultural heritage<\/li><li>Developing cooperation to preserve the heritage together with all the stakeholders<\/li><li>Encouraging an active role of public in the preservation of heritage and the development itself in social life<\/li><li>Inventory the wealth of inheritance of a member of JKPI<\/li><li>Developing an understanding of the diversity of nature and culture to reinforce the unity of Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia<\/li><li>As a receptacle for the promotion of heritage for members of JKPI<\/li><\/ol><p>This organization is a non-profit organization, independent, and is not intended to\u00a0advance the interest of, or attached to, a group or a political flow.<\/p><p>To strengthen this organization, on October 23<sup>rd<\/sup>\u201425<sup>th<\/sup> 2009, the first congress of JKPI was held in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. In this congress, JKPI\u2019s management appointed with the mayor of Sawahlunto, Ir. Amran Nur, entrusted as a chairman and Major of Solo, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as a vice chairman. The management members contained in the Deklarasi Sawahlunto which signed by 32 city\/district members of JKPI. Before this congress been held, a pre-congress was held in Hotel Batavia, Jakarta, for preparing a congress agenda includes forming a management in order to strengthening the organization.<\/p><p>Deklarasi Sawahlunto was held to increasing the seriousness of the JKPI. It was proved a national conference that was held by JKPI. The First National Conference was held in Ternate on 21\u201423<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0 March 2010 and The Second National Conference was held in Pekalongan on 1\u20143<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0 April 2011. In addition, JKPI also hosted a seminar to strengthen the organization and work programs.\u00a0The first international seminar was held in Bengkulu on 16\u201418<sup>th<\/sup> March 2012 with picked \u201cOptimalizing Heritage City to Raise Authority of the Nation\u201d as the theme.<\/p><p>Until 2019, JKPI already consists of 70 City\/District. Sejarah kelahiran JKPI ini terkait erat dengan penyelenggaraan Konferensi dan Pameran Organisasi Kota Pusaka Eropa-Asia yang pada saat itu diselenggarakan di Kota Surakarta. \u00a0Ir. Jero wacik, selaku\u00a0 Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata\u00a0 saat itu bersama 12 walikota (Solo, Sawahlunto, Banda Aceh, Ternate, Pangkal Pinang, Yogyakarta, Ambon, Salatiga, Bogor, Jakarta Utara, Bengkulu dan Baubau)\u00a0 membuat sejarah baru tentang pelestarian pusaka dengan mendirikan JKPI.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Pendirian JKPI tertuang dalam Deklarasi Surakarta di bidang pusaka (warisan budaya) yang dilangsungkan di joglo belakang rumah dinas walikota Solo. Para <em>founding fathers<\/em> JKPI bersepakat\u00a0 mendeklarasikan organisasi \u00a0ini. Pada awal kelahirannya, JKPI hanya beranggotakan \u00a012 kota se-Indonesia. Seiring perjalanan waktu dan diskusi resmi pada forum-forum prakongres, kongres, dan Rakernas JKPI berjalan; akhirnya disepakati daerah yang berstatus kabupaten diperkenankan menjadi anggota JKPI sepanjang memenuhi kriteria dan berkomitmen dalam pelestarian pusaka (<em>tangible and intangible heritage<\/em>).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">JKPI sendiri adalah suatu organisasi di antara pemerintah kota dan atau pemerintah kota\/kabupaten yang mempunyai keanekaragaman pusaka alam dan atau pusaka budaya (<em>tangible<\/em> dan<em> intangible<\/em>), yang bertujuan untuk bersama-sama melestarikan pusaka alam dan pusaka budaya sebagai modal dasar untuk membangun ke masa depan. Adapun tujuan didirikan JKPI adalah:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol start=\"1\"><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Mengembangkan kerja sama di antara kota-kota yang mempunyai pusaka alam dan pusaka\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 budaya yang penting<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Mengembangkan kerja sama untuk melestarikan pusaka bersama para pemangku kepentingan<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Mendorong peran aktif \u00a0masyarakat dalam pelestarian pusaka dan pengembangannya yang positif dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Menginventarisasi kekayaan warisan pusaka dari anggota JKPI<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Mengembangkan pemahaman keberagaman alam \u00a0dan \u00a0budaya untuk memperkuat Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Sebagai wadah promosi pusaka yang ada bagi anggota JKPI<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Organisasi ini merupakan organisasi yang bersifat nirlaba, mandiri, dan tidak dimaksudkan untuk memajukan kepentingan, atau terikat dengan, \u00a0suatu golongan atau aliran politik tertentu.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Untuk menguatkan organisasi ini, tanggal\u00a0 23\u201425 Oktober 2009 dilakukanlah kongres pertama JKPI di Kota Sawahlunto, Sumatera Barat. Dalam kongres ini dikukuhkanlah kepengurusan JKPI periode 2009-2012 dengan tampuk pimpinan dipercayakan kepada Walikota Sawahlunto, Ir. Amran Nur dan Wakil Ketua dipegang Walikota Solo, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Kepengurusan tersebut tertuang dalam Deklarasi Sawahlunto yang ditandatangani oleh 32 kota\/kabupaten anggota JKPI. Sebelum dilakukan kongres ini, juga dilaksanakan pra-kongres di Hotel Batavia, Jakarta, untuk mempersiapkan agenda kongres termasuk membentuk kepengurusan guna memperkuat organisasi.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Dengan adanya Deklarasi Sawahlunto ini, keseriusan JKPI untuk melakukan program kerja terus ditingkatkan. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan melakukan Rakernas. Rakernas I dilakukan di Kota Ternate pada\u00a0 \u00a0tanggal\u00a0 21\u201423 Maret 2010 dan Rakernas II diselenggarakan di Pekalongan pada tanggal 1\u20143 April 2011. Di samping itu, JKPI juga menyelenggarakan seminar untuk menguatkan organisasi dan program kerja. Seminar Internasional pertama JKPI dilaksanakan di Kota Bengkulu pada tanggal 16\u201418 Maret 2012 dengan mengangkat tema \u201cOptimalisasi Kota Pusaka untuk Mengangkat Wibawa Bangsa\u201d.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Hingga tahun 2019 ini, JKPI sudah beranggotakan 70 kota\/kabupaten.
