Martha Christina Tijahahu Statue

This statue is located in a garden on the Karang Panjang hills, the statue faces towards the Bay of Ambon. Martha Christina Tijahahu was a young teenage girl who originated from the village of Abubu on the island of Nusa Laut. Martha Christina fought alongside her father against the Dutch. Her father was captured and executed in Nusa Laut. Martha Christina was also captured and placed on a boat heading for Java.  Martha Christina refused to eat and she died on the 2nd of January 1818 at the age of 18 on board the ship. Her body was thrown into the Banda Sea.

Patung ini terletak pada suatu taman di perbukitan Karang Panjang menghadap ke teluk Ambon. Martha Christina Tijahahu adalah seorang gadis yang berasal dari desa Abubu di pulau Nusa Laut. Martha Christina berjuang dengan ayahnya melawan Belanda. Ayahnya ditangkap dan dijatuhkan hukuman mati di Nusa Laut. Martha Christina ditahan dan dibawa dengan kapal menuju pulau Jawa. Martha Christina menolak makan dan meninggal pada 2 Januari 1818 di atas kapal di usia 18 tahun.  Jenazahnya kemudian ditenggelamkan di laut Banda.
